BJP leader N.R. Ramesh has alleged bribery and illegal construction inside the Smart City multi-level parking complex at Gandhi Bazaar, even before its official inauguration.
Serious allegations of corruption have surfaced over the newly built multi-level parking complex at Gandhi Bazaar, even before its official inauguration. BJP leader N.R. Ramesh has accused officials of permitting illegal commercial activity inside the parking structure in violation of rules.
The multi-level parking facility has been constructed under the Smart City project after clearing the old parking space at Gandhi Bazaar. As per the plan, the building consists of three floors dedicated exclusively for vehicle parking. Additionally, preparations were underway to open 52 shops on the ground floor.

However, controversy erupted after complaints emerged that a hotel is being constructed inside the parking complex. N.R. Ramesh has alleged that the construction is illegal and against approved norms. He has further claimed that engineer Chandrashekhar accepted a bribe of ₹10 lakh to allow the hotel to operate within the premises.
Ramesh has written a formal complaint letter to the GBA Chief Commissioner, demanding immediate action and a thorough probe into the alleged irregularities. He stated that permitting a hotel inside a parking facility compromises public interest and defeats the very purpose of building a parking structure to reduce congestion.
According to the allegations, the parking complex is fully ready but is yet to be officially inaugurated. Despite this, parking is already being allowed on a trial basis. The BJP leader questioned how commercial construction was allowed when the project itself has not received formal clearance for inauguration.
