A 29-year-old software professional died by suicide at her home in Bengaluru’s MEI Layout after reportedly being disturbed by an astrologer’s prediction of a short life, just days before her planned marriage.

A heartbreaking incident has been reported from the Bagalagunte police station limits in Bengaluru, where a 29-year-old woman techie, identified as Vidyajyothi, was found dead by suicide at her residence in MEI Layout. The incident has left her family and relatives in deep shock, especially as wedding preparations were underway.

Vidyajyothi, the second daughter of Umesh and Kavitha, worked at Bosch and was on a work-from-home schedule. She was in love with a young man from Kodagu, and both families had agreed to the marriage. The family was preparing for her wedding, and arrangements were progressing as per her wishes.

A few days earlier, the family had reportedly consulted an astrologer, who allegedly predicted that Vidyajyothi was “short-lived” and advised them to perform a nine-day special pooja. The astrologer also instructed that on the ninth day, offerings should be made to Maramma temple to ward off danger.

Following this advice, the family conducted the rituals. On the ninth day, preparations were underway to visit the temple after dinner. Vidyajyothi went to her room after her meal. Assuming she was working, her parents did not disturb her.

In the evening, when her mother Kavitha called her several times to get ready for the temple visit around 8 pm, there was no response. Growing suspicious, the family looked through the window and were shocked to find Vidyajyothi hanging inside her room.
