Police recover ₹7 crore; remaining ₹10 lakh traced to a relative who is now absconding.

A week after Bengaluru witnessed a ₹7.11 crore robbery, interrogation details have revealed that the accused gang spent only ₹1 lakh while attempting to evade police across multiple states. Despite having crores in their possession, the suspects were unable to use the money due to continuous police pressure and lack of a safe place to hide.

According to reports, the gang of seven members fled Bengaluru soon after the heist, deliberately avoiding the Hosakote toll gate and instead taking interior village routes towards Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The group was constantly on the move and did not stay at any location for more than a couple of hours, which left them with no opportunity to spend the stolen cash.

The interrogation revealed a breakdown of their expenses: a ₹40,000 OnePlus phone, another mobile phone worth ₹20,000, small payments to individuals who aided them during their escape, ₹10,000 worth of diesel, and ₹25,000 spent on food, alcohol and miscellaneous expenses. Together, their total spending amounted to merely ₹1 lakh.

Bengaluru police have already recovered ₹7 crore from the stolen amount. The remaining ₹10 lakh was reportedly handed over by one of the accused to a relative to settle an old loan. However, once the relative learnt that the money was linked to the robbery, he allegedly switched off his mobile phone and disappeared. Police teams are now trying to track him down to recover the remaining amount.

Investigators continue high-intensity operations to ensure 100% recovery of the stolen cash. With most of the loot already secured and the accused in custody, efforts are now focussed on locating the last missing amount and the absconding relative.
