Work resumes on the Outer Ring Road service road at Doddanekundi as fresh funds are released, while GBA plans a ₹307-crore comprehensive makeover of the ORR stretch.
After months of delay, asphalting work has finally commenced on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road at Doddanekundi, offering much-needed relief to thousands of daily commuters along Bengaluru’s busy technology corridor.
The development coincides with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) proposing a separate large-scale upgrade of the ORR at an estimated cost of ₹307 crore. The move follows repeated complaints over poor road conditions, especially after heavy rainfall exposed major damage across several ORR stretches.

The current project has its origins in September 2022, when intense rains across the city highlighted the deteriorating state of the ORR. Inspections carried out then pointed to the urgent need for complete asphalting, prompting the Mahadevapura zone to submit a budget proposal to civic authorities.
The first phase of funding focused on the Marathahalli–Iblur stretch, where work is now nearing completion, including the resurfacing of service roads on both sides. With the release of the next tranche of funds, work has now expanded to Doddanekundi.

At present, desilting of roadside drains is underway, along with resetting kerbstones and footpath pavers. In selected sections, brushed concrete footpaths are being developed. Asphalting has already begun on the Doddanekundi service road and the middle lane beneath the flyover, marking visible progress after a prolonged wait.
