Bengaluru: BDA confirms Challaghatta railway underpass nears completion

The Challaghatta railway underpass project is nearing completion, with most of the structure already pushed into place using advanced technology. Just 6.74 metres remain, and one section is set to be completed within three days.

Box-pushing work enters final stage as BDA targets seamless connectivity between Kempegowda Layout and Mysuru Road

Construction of the new railway underpass at Challaghatta is progressing at a fast pace, bringing much-awaited relief to commuters in southwest Bengaluru. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has deployed advanced box-pushing technology to speed up the project while ensuring strict safety standards at the site.

According to officials, 35.26 metres of the underpass structure have already been successfully completed. Only 6.74 metres of work remain, marking the final phase of construction. Authorities expect the pushing work of one full section of the underpass to be completed within the next three days.

Once operational, the underpass will significantly improve connectivity between Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout and Mysuru Road. The project is designed to allow smooth, signal-free movement for thousands of daily commuters who currently face delays at railway crossings.

Officials say the underpass will play a key role in easing traffic congestion in the surrounding areas and strengthening overall road connectivity across Bengaluru. With work entering its last stretch, the project is now firmly on track for completion.
