Only licensed stores selling green firecrackers allowed; strict monitoring aims to prevent accidents and curb pollution.

After past accidents and safety concerns, the Bengaluru District Administration has introduced strict rules for firecracker sales ahead of Diwali. Two years ago, a major fire at a firecracker shop near Attibele prompted the administration to act decisively.

This year, only licensed stores selling green, eco-friendly firecrackers are allowed to operate. Any attempt to sell other types of firecrackers without proper authorization will attract strict action. The administration, led by Bengaluru DC Jagadish, is closely monitoring all outlets to ensure compliance.

With pollution and safety risks in mind, the government has already banned dangerous firecrackers, following similar bans in Delhi. Vendors attempting unauthorized sales will face warnings and penalties. The move aims to protect lives, reduce accidents, and curb air pollution during the festive season.
