Nagavara loop ramp of Hebbal Flyover likely to open before Independence Day, aims to ease airport-bound congestion at one of Bengaluru’s busiest junctions.

Bengaluru’s Hebbal Flyover, a long-standing traffic bottleneck, is set to see major relief as the newly constructed ramp from Nagavara is expected to open before August 15. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar confirmed the timeline earlier this week, stating that the much-delayed project is now in its final stages.

Originally scheduled for completion by April 30 with a May inauguration, the new section has faced several delays. However, with finishing works nearing completion, the government plans to throw it open to commuters in time for Independence Day. “This ramp will help decongest the Hebbal junction, which has been a pain point for daily commuters and airport-bound travelers,” Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengaluru Development portfolio, stated.

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is leading the project, which involves constructing dedicated lanes to separate airport-bound traffic from regular vehicular flow. Once functional, the upgraded flyover will streamline traffic between key corridors including Tumakuru Road, Outer Ring Road, KR Puram, and Nagavara.

Hebbal junction has long been one of the city’s most congested spots, especially for vehicles heading towards the Kempegowda International Airport. The new flyover loop is expected to significantly reduce delays, particularly during peak hours and festive seasons.

With increased demand for smoother connectivity to the airport, this infrastructure milestone is poised to improve both mobility and commuter experience in northern Bengaluru.
