India’s first Shooting League was held in Bengaluru with 8 teams and 88 athletes. Organized by Karnataka Rifle Association and SLV Housing, winners got ₹7.5 lakh

For the first time in India, a professional Shooting League has been organized in Bengaluru, marking a new chapter in the country’s sporting landscape. The event, led by the Karnataka State Rifle Association in collaboration with SLV Housing Development Corporation, brought pistol and rifle shooting into a league format, creating excitement among enthusiasts.

The two-day tournament, held on February 28 and March 1 at the Shooting Club in Jnanabharathi Campus, featured eight teams competing across six shooting categories. A total of 88 athletes showcased their skills, with winning teams receiving cash prizes. Organizers credited the success of the event to the efforts of H. Nagaraj, Managing Director of SLV Housing Development Corporation, and his daughter Nisarga, who played a key role in supporting the initiative.

SLV Housing Development Corporation, a prominent name in real estate for nearly four decades, has also been active in social responsibility through the Sri Krishna Charitable Trust. The trust has contributed to education by improving government schools, supporting underprivileged students, and offering scholarships. In addition, SLV has consistently encouraged sports, particularly shooting, and continues to sponsor the Karnataka Shooting League. This year, it awarded ₹7.5 lakh in cash prizes to the winners.

Organizers believe the inaugural league is only the beginning. With strong backing from SLV and the State Rifle Association, plans are already underway to expand the tournament in the future, aiming to give shooting greater visibility and recognition in India’s sporting ecosystem.
