BMRCL gears up to launch the much-awaited 21.26-km Pink Line in two phases, connecting Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara. Phase-1 is set for March 2026, while Phase-2 will follow in September 2026.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is accelerating work on the city’s upcoming Pink Line (Kalena Agrahara-Nagawara), a 21.26-km corridor that promises to transform daily commutes across Bengaluru.

For the initial phase, power supply will be routed through the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) Khodays sub-station, ensuring uninterrupted energy to the Kothanur depot via underground cables across Avalahalli, Anjanapura, and Gottigere. Authorities have strongly cautioned the public against unauthorized digging or construction in these areas, warning of serious safety risks.
The project will unfold in two phases. Phase-1, expected by March 2026, will cover a 7.5-km elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, featuring six stations. Phase-2, scheduled for September 2026, will add a 13.76-km underground section from Dairy Circle to Nagawara, covering 12 stations and linking vital hubs such as Cantonment, MG Road, Langford Town, and JP Nagar 4th Phase.

To support operations, BEML will supply 138 coaches (23 train sets) for the Pink Line. The first prototype train is slated for testing by October 2025, and by March 2026, 20 train sets with 120 coaches will be ready to serve commuters.

Currently, Bengaluru Metro operates across 96 km, and with the Pink Line’s completion alongside the Blue Line to Kempegowda International Airport, the network is expected to expand by 40 km by the end of 2026. The Blue Line’s first phase, running from Rashtriya Military School to KR Puram, is set for completion by September 2026, with the full 58.19-km corridor—featuring 30 stations—being developed at an estimated cost of ₹14,788 crore.
With nearly 90% of Pink Line construction completed, BMRCL is optimistic about meeting its deadlines. Once operational, this corridor is set to dramatically cut travel times, ease traffic on city roads, and enhance last-mile connectivity for lakhs of daily commuters.
