With 90% work complete, BMRCL’s Pink Line is on track to transform Bengaluru’s connectivity, linking IT hubs, industrial zones, and a proposed mega sports stadium at Attibele.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is racing ahead with its ambitious Pink Line project, expected to redefine the city’s public transport network. On August 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the RV Road–Bommasandra Metro stretch, and now work is in full swing on the Pink Line, which, once complete, will be the longest Metro corridor in Bengaluru.

According to officials, nearly 90% of construction is already finished, with six elevated stations set for inauguration next year. The Pink Line’s full potential will be realised once it extends up to Kadugodi Tree Park, creating a mammoth 68-km corridor. This expansion will connect critical areas like Jigani, Anekal, Attibele, Sarjapur, Varthur, and Kadugodi, linking Bengaluru’s bustling IT clusters with industrial and residential pockets.

Currently, work is progressing on the 21.3 km Kalena Agrahara–Nagawara stretch, featuring 7.5 km elevated and 13.8 km underground tracks. This is part of the first phase, with the remaining expansion to follow in the second. BMRCL has planned nearly 50 stations along the Pink Line, and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared after a feasibility study for further extension.

Adding to its significance, the Karnataka Housing Board has proposed a 90,000-seater stadium near Attibele, which will receive direct Metro connectivity via the Pink Line, a move seen as a major boost for sports lovers and local residents alike. Officials believe this ambitious corridor will help tame Bengaluru’s notorious traffic, ensuring smoother, faster, and eco-friendly travel for lakhs of daily commuters.
