A 38-year-old Ola Electric engineer in Bengaluru allegedly died by suicide, citing workplace harassment in a note. FIR registered against CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and senior officials amid scrutiny over company HR practices.
A criminal investigation has been launched after 38-year-old Ola Electric engineer K. Aravind allegedly died by suicide on September 28, reportedly citing workplace harassment and mental pressure from top company executives. A handwritten note, believed to be Aravind’s suicide letter, mentions harassment by CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, senior engineer Subrat Kumar Das, and other officials, including non-payment of salary, withdrawal of allowances, and undue mental stress.

The case drew attention when Aravind’s family noticed a sum of Rs 17.46 lakh credited to his account on September 30, two days after his death. His elder brother Ashwin approached Ola’s HR for clarity, but the family alleges that the company failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
Authorities are expected to scrutinize digital evidence, internal communications, HR policies, and employee counseling records to verify the claims. Investigators will examine whether strict HR protocols and employee support programs were properly implemented.

Company Response: A spokesperson from Ola Electric stated, “We are deeply saddened by Aravind’s demise. During his tenure, he never raised any complaints or grievances. His role did not involve direct interaction with the company’s top management. The FIR registration has been challenged before the Karnataka High Court, and protective orders have been passed in favor of Ola Electric and its officials. The full and final settlement was promptly facilitated to the family, and the company is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
