To ease traffic congestion in Bengaluru’s major shopping hub, the West Zone civic body has floated a tender to introduce paid parking on seven key roads in Malleswaram.
In a move aimed at reducing traffic congestion in one of Bengaluru’s busiest commercial areas, the West Zone of th Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has initiated steps to introduce a pay-and-park system in Malleswaram. The civic body has officially called for tenders to implement paid parking on select roads in the locality.
Malleswaram, known as a major shopping and commercial hub, often witnesses heavy traffic due to vehicles being parked along roadsides. This roadside parking has been a key reason for frequent traffic jams, especially during peak shopping hours. To address this long-standing issue, GBA has decided to regulate parking through a paid system.

As per the plan, pay-and-park facilities will be introduced on seven roads in Malleswaram. These include Sampige Road, 18th Road, 15th Road, 11th Road, 8th Road, 4th Road, and 2nd Main Road. The civic body has taken a decision to enforce paid parking on all these stretches to ensure better traffic flow and organised vehicle parking.
The parking charges have also been finalised. Car users will be required to pay ₹30 per hour, while two-wheelers will be charged ₹15 per hour. In addition to hourly parking, GBA is also planning to introduce a daily parking pass, which is expected to benefit regular visitors and shop owners in the area.
Officials believe that the pay-and-park system will discourage long-duration roadside parking, improve vehicle movement, and bring more discipline to parking practices in Malleswaram. Once the tender process is completed, the implementation of the system is expected to begin soon.
