Bengaluru City Police have launched a special intensive drive across the city to identify and track illegal Bangladeshi and Nigerian nationals, following clear instructions from senior authorities. The operation is being carried out across all police divisions with daily searches and systematic verification of identity documents.

The special drive, initiated on the directions of the State Home Minister and under instructions from Director General of Police Saleem, has been underway for the past two days. A dedicated special team has been formed to conduct the operation for one full week, after which a detailed report will be submitted to the Police Commissioner.

As part of the operation, police teams are conducting daily searches in at least one police station jurisdiction in every division. Areas with a higher concentration of migrants, especially locations housing people from North Indian states, are being closely monitored. Special attention is being given to individuals carrying Aadhaar cards issued in Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar, as these documents are being verified thoroughly.

Police personnel are identifying suspected individuals, bringing them to police stations for questioning, and conducting background verification. In cases of doubt, Aadhaar details are being cross-checked directly with police authorities of the respective States to confirm the authenticity of addresses and identity records.

Officials clarified that if the individual’s residence and identity details are found to be genuine and officially registered, no action will be taken. However, if fake documents or forged identity proofs are detected, strict legal action will be initiated as per law.

The citywide operation is mainly aimed at detecting illegal Bangladeshi nationals and undocumented Nigerian residents, whose presence has raised security and law-and-order concerns. The police are also scanning commercial and residential areas to ensure that no unauthorised migrants remain undetected.

Authorities said that the special drive will continue for a week, after which a comprehensive assessment report will be prepared and submitted to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner. Officials emphasised that the operation is preventive in nature and intended to ensure public safety, security, and lawful residency across the city.
