After a biker was severely injured due to an unmarked speed breaker and pothole-ridden stretch, residents call for either repairing roads or banning two-wheelers on unsafe routes.
A severe road accident caused by potholes and an unscientific speed breaker in Bengaluru has triggered fresh anger over the deteriorating condition of the city’s roads. The victim, Saurabh, suffered major fractures after his bike slipped on a stretch filled with potholes and a speed bump that was barely visible in the dark.
The fall resulted in significant damage to his leg, forcing doctors to insert 10 metal plates during surgery. He has been advised six months of strict bed rest. The hospital expenses have already crossed ₹6 lakh, adding to the distress.

From his hospital bed, Saurabh recorded a video expressing deep frustration over the state of Bengaluru’s roads. His friends also joined in, criticising elected representatives and civic authorities for allowing such unsafe road conditions to persist. The group questioned how residents are expected to travel when potholes remain unfilled and speed breakers are built without any scientific standards.
They stated that Bengaluru’s roads continue to worsen every year, with potholes increasing instead of being repaired properly. Often, attempts to close potholes end up creating unscientific humps, which become even more dangerous for two-wheeler riders. These conditions, they argued, put lives at risk on a daily basis.

Demanding immediate action, the family and friends urged authorities to either fix the city’s roads or restrict two-wheelers on stretches that remain unsafe due to civic negligence. They called upon citizens to question their representatives and seek accountability for the recurring accidents caused by poor road maintenance across the city.
With rising complaints and yet another severe injury reported, residents hope the incident reignites urgency within the administration to address Bengaluru’s long-standing road safety issues.
