Press Club of Bengaluru recognises veteran journalists for 15–22 years of dedicated service, with NewsFirst’s Mohan Kumar KP and Harish G Kakolu among 55 awardees
The Press Club of Bengaluru once again upheld its long-standing tradition of recognising excellence in journalism by conferring the 2025 Annual Press Club Awards on senior journalists who have rendered exceptional service to the field.
The award ceremony was held in a grand manner at the Bengaluru Press Club, celebrating journalists who have dedicated 15 to over 20 years to the profession. A total of 55 senior journalists were honoured this year for their consistent contribution and commitment to journalism.

The event witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities, including Chief Minister’s Media Advisor K V Prabhakar, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti, and many senior journalists from across Karnataka.
Among the awardees were Mohan Kumar KP, Head of the Input Desk at NewsFirst Kannada, and Harish G Kakolu, Senior Political Correspondent at NewsFirst.
Mohan Kumar KP, a native of Adadad village, Holehalsi in Chikkamagaluru district, entered journalism after completing his MA in Journalism from Bangalore University. He began his media career in 2007 and has over 18 years of experience. Recognising his professional journey and service, the Press Club of Bengaluru honoured him with the annual award.
Senior political journalist Harish G Kakolu, hailing from Kakol village in Bengaluru North district, was also felicitated. With 22 years of experience across print and visual media, he has carved a distinct identity in political reporting. Currently serving as a senior correspondent with NewsFirst, his long-standing contribution was acknowledged with the 2025 annual honour.
