GBA launches joint enforcement action under KR Puram Zonal Commissioner Dr. Sudha; 251 buildings sealed in a single day
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has intensified its crackdown on property tax defaulters in the KR Puram zone, with officials sealing hundreds of buildings that failed to clear long-pending dues. The enforcement drive was carried out under the leadership of KR Puram Zonal Commissioner Dr. Sudha.
As part of the operation, GBA officials sealed several commercial and residential properties across the zone, including fruit shops, garment stores and gold shops that had not paid property tax despite repeated notices. Buildings were locked and sealed on the spot to recover arrears.
The action was conducted through a joint operation involving the Revenue Department, Engineering Wing and Health Department of the KR Puram zone. Along with property tax recovery, officials also took action against unauthorised encroachments, illegal flex banners and footpath encroachments.

Penalties were imposed on establishments operating without trade licences, as well as those who held valid licences but failed to display them. Businesses found encroaching on footpaths were also fined during the drive.
Officials said the KR Puram zone has a total of 2,077 property tax payers. On this single day, enforcement teams sealed 251 properties belonging to tax defaulters. The total property tax collection target for the zone stands at ₹3.50 crore.
The drive was carried out by two separate teams across the HAL and KR Puram sub-divisions. Officers from KR Puram RITS, Revenue Inspectors, engineers, health inspectors and marshals participated in the operation.
Authorities revealed that property owners were informed in advance. Tax defaulters were contacted over phone calls on the previous night, warning them of strict action. The move had an immediate impact, with ₹25 lakh in property tax being paid online overnight even before the sealing began.
