Bengaluru’s 77th Republic Day parade will feature 37 contingents, cultural shows, and tight security, but skip the Tornado bike stunt this year

The 77th Republic Day parade in Bengaluru will be held at the Manekshaw Parade Ground on Monday, organized by the Bengaluru Urban District Administration in collaboration with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and the City Police. A total of 37 contingents are set to participate in the march, showcasing the strength and diversity of the armed forces, paramilitary units, and civic organizations.

This year’s celebrations will see a notable change, as the popular bike stunt by the ‘Tornado’ team of the ASC Centre will not be featured. The decision was taken due to time constraints experienced in the previous year and the deployment of the Tornado team to Delhi and Goa. The programme is scheduled to begin at 8:58 a.m., with the Governor unfurling the national flag at 9 a.m., followed by the guard of honour and the Republic Day address. The event is expected to conclude by 11 a.m., ensuring a streamlined schedule.

Preparations for the parade are nearly complete, with passes issued, entry and exit routes finalized, and surveillance systems installed. Around 1,100 participants will take part, including contingents from the Army, Air Force, CRPF women’s unit, Tamil Nadu State Police, Scouts and Guides, NCC, Seva Dal, and schoolchildren. In addition, nearly 400 children will perform in two cultural programmes organized by the Police Department, adding vibrancy to the occasion.

Security has been tightened following last year’s incident when an intruder disrupted the parade ground. To prevent any recurrence, authorities have installed 100 CCTV cameras, four baggage scanners, and introduced systematic traffic control measures. Ambulances and medical teams will also be on standby to ensure public safety.

The parade promises to be a disciplined and colourful celebration of national pride, even without the Tornado bike stunt that has traditionally been a crowd favourite.
