Major inspection drive across four assembly segments leads to notices, penalties, and kitchen closures over lack of hygiene, safety, and basic facilities.
In a strong enforcement drive against unauthorized and poorly maintained Paying Guest (PG) accommodations, the Bengaluru South City Corporation carried out extensive inspections across multiple localities on February 12, 2026. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner Shri K. N. Ramesh, targeting PGs operating without adequate facilities and safety standards.
The inspection covered four assembly constituencies, Jayanagar, Bengaluru South, BTM Layout, and Bommanahalli. Officials checked a total of 89 PG establishments for essential amenities, hygiene, and safety compliance. The focus areas included availability of safe drinking water, overall cleanliness, kitchen hygiene, sanitation facilities, fire safety systems, installation of CCTV cameras, and possession of valid FSSAI food safety certification.
During the drive, authorities found several violations related to poor hygiene, lack of safety arrangements, and absence of mandatory certifications. As a result, notices were issued to defaulting PG owners, and 19 kitchens were ordered to be shut down immediately due to unsafe and unhygienic conditions.
