From September 25, the Royal Mart Junction U-turn on Whitefield Hope Farm Main Road will be closed, with alternative routes in place to reduce peak-hour gridlock.
In a bid to tackle chronic traffic snarls in East Bengaluru, the city’s traffic police have rolled out new restrictions along the bustling Whitefield Hope Farm Main Road. Starting September 25, motorists will no longer be able to take a U-turn at the Royal Mart Junction.

According to the advisory from the Whitefield Traffic Police Station, vehicles heading from Ambedkar Gutte towards Hope Farm must now detour via Vijaynagar Road and proceed through Munisingh Junction to reach Hope Farm and ITPL. Similarly, commuters traveling from Royal Mart and Whitefield towards Ambedkar Gutte will need to continue via Hope Farm to access their destination.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic East Division), Sahil Bagla, IPS, urged citizens to cooperate with the revised plan, stressing that the change is aimed at easing daily congestion and ensuring smoother flow along the critical IT corridor.
The move comes at a time when Whitefield is grappling with heavy peak-hour traffic with the influx of IT employees. Authorities believe the closure of the U-turn, often a choke point, will cut down delays and reduce commuter frustration.
