The Bengaluru Traffic Police introduces a new digital feature on its BTP ASTraM app, allowing citizens to report minor road accidents directly from the spot without visiting a police station.

In a major step toward simplifying road accident reporting and easing the burden on motorists, the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has introduced a new digital feature called ‘e-Accident Report’ on its official BTP ASTraM mobile app.

This new feature enables citizens to file complaints for minor, non-fatal road accidents directly from the accident spot, without the need to visit a police station or make emergency calls.

With Bengaluru’s roads witnessing frequent fender-benders and minor collisions, police stations were often overwhelmed with small accident cases. Recognising this growing challenge, the BTP has turned to technology to streamline the process and enhance citizen convenience.

What is the e-Accident Report?

The e-Accident Report is a digital self-service feature on the BTP ASTraM app that lets citizens report minor, non-fatal road accidents online without going to a police station. It offers a transparent, fast, and hassle-free way to record incidents, with instant acknowledgment and a digital copy that can be used later for insurance or legal purposes.

How to File an e-Accident Report:

1.    Download the BTP ASTraM app on your smartphone.
2.    Tap on the “e-Accident Report” option.
3.    Upload photos of the accident scene and vehicles.
4.    Enter details such as date, time, and location of the incident.
5.    Provide the vehicle registration number and a short description of how the accident occurred.
6.    Submit your name, phone number, and contact details to complete the report.

After submission, the complainant receives a digital acknowledgment that can serve as an official record for insurance claims or verification purposes.

The app offers two modes, ‘Report My Accident’ and ‘Report Accident I Witnessed’,  allowing both victims and bystanders to notify the police immediately about any minor road mishap.
