In a creative campaign, over 40 major traffic junctions in Bengaluru now feature heart-shaped red signals, spreading awareness on cardiac health with QR codes for emergency help.
Commuters in Bengaluru were greeted with a surprise as several major traffic junctions, including HAL, MG Road, Trinity, Cubbon Park and Brigade Road, displayed heart-shaped red signals this week. The initiative, part of the Guardian of the Heart 3.0 campaign, is designed to spark awareness about cardiac health among city residents.

The campaign, supported by Bengaluru Traffic Police in collaboration with Manipal Hospital, marks World Heart Day with a unique twist. More than 40 signals across the city now carry both the glowing heart shape and QR code boards that provide critical information on heart-related illnesses. By scanning the QR code, citizens can access emergency help and valuable tips on heart health.
Organisers explained that the symbolism of a heart at a red signal reflects the need for “rest”, just as vehicles pause at a stop sign, the heart too requires timely care and breaks from stress. The campaign urges every individual to adopt a heart-friendly lifestyle, make health check-ups a regular part of life, and prioritise preventive care.
