Banashankari traffic cops crack major drug case after stopping a tinted-glass car; 21 kg ganja, cash, gold recovered, two peddlers on the run.
A routine traffic stop by Banashankari traffic police turned into a major drug bust on Tuesday evening near Veerabhadra Road under Girinagar police limits.

Police noticed a car with tinted glass and a driver talking on a mobile phone. When signaled to stop, two men fled from the vehicle, sparking suspicion. Police, with public help, surrounded the car and discovered two sacks containing nearly 21 kg of ganja, valued at ₹80 lakh.
Along with the contraband, officials seized ₹2.8 lakh cash and 80 grams of gold ornaments. The driver, identified as Naseem Ahmed, was caught and handed over to Girinagar police. Preliminary investigation revealed that he had been hired by the peddlers for ₹5,000 to drive the vehicle.

Police are now verifying if the driver had prior knowledge of the narcotics. The car, registered in Mangaluru and carrying an ‘Army’ sticker, is being examined, and CCTV footage is being analyzed to trace the two absconding peddlers.
