Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, facing mounting criticism to repair potholes, convened a high-level meeting with officials of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) at his home office, Krishna. During the review, he issued a stern directive: all potholes across the city must be repaired and made motorable by the end of October.

CM lashes out at engineers

“Why is it so difficult to close potholes? You are bringing discredit to the government. Aren’t you ashamed?” the CM reportedly lashed out at engineers. He criticized the poor quality of earlier repairs, calling them unscientific and temporary, and warned of strict disciplinary action, including suspension, against officials failing to meet the deadline.

Siddaramaiah further instructed that all departments work in close coordination, with the GBA Chief Commissioner mandated to hold weekly review meetings. He also announced that he would personally assess progress in the next 15 days.

The poor state of Bengaluru’s infrastructure has gained national and even international attention, tarnishing the city’s global image as India’s tech hub. While the CM’s strong words have raised hopes, residents remain watchful to see if Bengaluru’s notorious potholes will finally be a thing of the past.
