Five major elevated corridors are proposed across the city to ease congestion, improve connectivity, and ensure smoother daily commutes.

Bengaluru commuters, who face daily traffic snarls on key routes, may soon get much-needed relief as the city plans five elevated corridors spanning nearly 80km. Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Ltd (B-Smile) has initiated bids for consultancy services to fast-track these projects, aiming to enhance east–west and north–south connectivity across the city.

B-Smile’s request for proposal (RFP), released on Friday, invites experienced project management consultants (PMCs), detailed project report (DPR) consultants, and proof-checking agencies to participate. The bidding process will follow a two-cover system and is to be conducted exclusively through the Karnataka Public Procurement portal.

The five proposed corridors are designed to divert through-traffic from congested surface roads, offering commuters a faster alternative on heavily trafficked routes:

1.    Nagavara Junction to Bagalur Main Road (17.9km) – A six-lane elevated corridor passing through RK Hegde Nagar, Sampigehalli, Tirumenahalli, and Bellahalli. The route stretches from Sathnur village to Chokkanahalli village. The DPR for this project has been prepared by Infra Support Engineering Pvt Ltd.

2.    Mother Teresa Circle to Bagalur village (27.1km) – This elevated corridor targets the north-eastern stretch from Ulsoor lake area to the new airport road. Key roads along the alignment include Assaye Road, Buddha Vihar Road, Hennur Main Road, Bagalur Main Road, and Kannuru. Infra Support Engineering Pvt Ltd has prepared the DPR for this corridor as well.

3.    Old Madras Road to Electronics City (10.8km) – Designed to ease congestion on the eastern and southern corridors, this elevated road will pass through Swami Vivekananda Metro station, Indiranagar, Old Airport Road, Hosur Road, and the Silk Board Junction, notorious for heavy traffic. Siddhi Shakti Projects prepared the DPR.

4.    Sirsi Circle to Nayandahalli (5.2km) – Covering Mysuru Road and extending up to Mysuru Satellite Bus Station, this corridor is planned to decongest west Bengaluru.

5.    Marenahalli Main Road to Kanakapura Main Road (18.4km) – Traversing via BWSSB Pipeline Road near Thalaghattapura 5th Junction, this corridor aims to relieve southern arterial roads. Nagesh Consultants prepared the DPR for this route.

Officials stated that the selected consultants will oversee project management, technical vetting, and proof-checking to ensure quality and timely execution. These elevated corridors are expected to provide a major boost in traffic movement, reducing travel time and easing bottlenecks on Bengaluru’s busiest roads.
