Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar unveils a massive ₹1100 crore plan to revamp Bengaluru’s road network, aiming for smooth, pothole-free roads across all constituencies.

Bengaluru’s crumbling roads may finally get the upgrade citizens have been demanding for years. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday (September 14) announced a massive ₹1100 crore allocation dedicated to repairing and rebuilding the city’s roads.

Shivakumar, in a post on X, called the announcement a “major push” for Bengaluru’s infrastructure. “We are committed to ensuring every constituency benefits from these funds and to building smooth, pothole-free roads across the city,” he stated.

Under the plan, 14 assembly constituencies will each receive ₹50 crore, while the remaining constituencies will get ₹25 crore apiece. Officials say the funds will go towards resurfacing damaged roads, constructing new ones, and improving drainage systems to ensure long-term durability.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of growing public concern over the city’s poor road conditions. Recently, a school bus carrying 20 students toppled after hitting a pothole on Panathur Main Road. Fortunately, all the children were rescued without serious injuries. Recently, a video of schoolgirls went viral on social media, where they described how potholes delay them, affect their studies, and leave them exhausted.
