With elections to the five newly formed Greater Bengaluru civic bodies due by June 30, the BJP has moved quickly to appoint senior leaders to steer its poll strategy.
Elections to the five municipal corporations formed under the newly constituted Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) are confirmed to be held by June 30 this year. With the countdown underway, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations to secure a strong performance in these crucial civic polls.
As part of its election strategy, the BJP has appointed dedicated election in-charges and co-in-charges for the Greater Bengaluru civic elections. The appointments were ordered by BJP national president Nitin Nabin, marking one of his first major organisational decisions after assuming office.
Former BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav has been appointed as the party’s election in-charge for the GBA polls. Alongside him, former Rajasthan BJP state president Satish Poonia and Maharashtra BJP legislator Sanjay Upadhyay have been named as election co-in-charges.

Ram Madhav is a senior leader from the BJP’s broader Sangh Parivar and is known for his strong ideological grounding. He earlier served as a prominent spokesperson of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and later became BJP national general secretary. During his tenure as in-charge general secretary for Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP formed a coalition government with the PDP in the Union Territory.

The swift appointment of such a senior and experienced leader for the Bengaluru civic polls is being seen as a clear signal of the party’s intent to approach the elections with seriousness and organisational focus.
Nitin Nabin assumed charge as BJP national president only a day ago. Within hours of taking office, he initiated key organisational decisions by naming in-charges not only for the Greater Bengaluru civic elections but also for the Kerala Assembly elections.
For the Kerala Assembly polls, Vinod Tawde has been appointed as the BJP’s election in-charge. Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment and MSMEs, Shobha Karandlaje, has been named as co-in-charge.

With these appointments, the BJP has formally kick-started its election machinery for both urban civic bodies in Bengaluru and the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.
