  • New 45-km AC bus route to run every 30 minutes
  • Faster than Metro due to direct NICE Road connectivity
  • Fare fixed at ₹110; seven buses deployed initially

A new Vajra AC service will operate every 30 minutes on the 45-km NICE Road stretch, offering quicker travel than the Metro for thousands of daily commuters.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is preparing to launch a new AC Vajra bus service on NICE Road, connecting Madavara and Electronics City with a direct 45-km route. The move follows the strong public response to the existing ordinary and express buses operating on the corridor.

As per the plan, AC buses will run every 30 minutes throughout the day, covering the full stretch in roughly 1 hour 30 minutes. This is significantly quicker than travelling the same distance on the Metro, where commuters must change lines at RV Road and pass through 37 stations before reaching the Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara station. The longer interchange time during peak hours has become a major concern for Metro users.

The upcoming Vajra service will follow a route that exits at toll plazas and re-enters NICE Road at Magadi Road, Mysuru Road and other sections, enabling smoother movement across the network. Officials emphasise that this service is meant to support commuters, not compete with Namma Metro.

The fare for the full journey from Madavara to Electronics City has been fixed at ₹110, inclusive of toll charges. The service will run between 6:30 am and 7:30 pm, and BMTC also intends to introduce monthly passes for regular AC bus travellers. Initially, the corporation will deploy seven buses on Route V NICE–10.

At present, BMTC operates 18 routes with 60 schedules and 292 daily trips on NICE Road, carrying more than 16,500 passengers and earning ₹65.76 per km. The new AC service is expected to benefit a wider commuter base seeking faster, comfortable long-distance connectivity.
