Bengaluru Police track down and detain two key suspects in the high-value CMS cash van heist after an interstate chase ending in Tirupati.
A major breakthrough has been recorded in the ₹7 crore CMS cash van robbery as Bengaluru Police detained two accused in Tirupati after an extensive interstate search. The suspects, both residents of Banaswadi, were taken into custody after fleeing Bengaluru soon after the crime.
The robbery took place in broad daylight when a CMS cash replenishment vehicle was intercepted near Jayanagar’s Ashoka Pillar. A gang posing as central tax officials stopped the van, abducted the staff, and escaped with the cash in an Innova. The incident triggered one of the city’s largest recent manhunts.

Even as officers carried out vehicle checks across multiple checkpoints, the investigation pointed to the accused leaving the city soon after the heist. Acting on leads, a police team located the duo in Tirupati and brought them in for questioning. Their arrest is being treated as a significant step toward uncovering the full execution plan behind the robbery.
Officials are also examining whether the operation involved internal assistance, as the crime unfolded with precision and timing suggestive of insider knowledge. The detained individuals are expected to provide crucial information on the remaining members of the gang, the money trail, and the planning process.
The investigation continues, with the police working to recover the stolen amount and identify every person connected to the high-value heist.
