Economic Offences Wing conducts search at Coles Park residence after multiple cheating cases linked to fake loans, land deals, and cheque bounce traps.

Serious allegations of large-scale financial fraud have emerged in Bengaluru, leading the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct a raid at the residence of a man known as Peter Caddy. The action was carried out by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) following multiple cheating complaints filed by business owners across the city.

The raid took place at Peter Caddy’s house in Coles Park, where CID officials conducted a detailed inspection and verification of documents. The operation follows a series of fraud cases registered against him at several police stations in Bengaluru, including Ashok Nagar, Halasuru, Bellandur, Jeevan Bheema Nagar, and Pulakeshinagar.

According to complaints, Peter Caddy allegedly lured entrepreneurs by promising easy business loans, collected cheque sureties, and charged money under the guise of processing fees and land deal facilitation. Victims claim that after receiving large sums, he failed to deliver on his promises.

When the victims demanded their money back, Peter Caddy is accused of misusing the cheques collected earlier and filing false cheque bounce cases against the complainants themselves, allegedly to intimidate and silence them.

One of the key cases was registered in August last year, based on a complaint filed bySubba Rao at Pulakeshinagar Police Station. In his complaint, Subba Rao stated that Peter Caddy had assured him of correcting land records, converting khata, and selling 300 acres of land at market value. Trusting the promise, Subba Rao paid ₹96.50 lakh. However, the work was never completed, leading to allegations of cheating.

To secure commission, Peter Caddy had allegedly taken cheques from Subba Rao and later filed a false cheque bounce case against him, deepening the fraud.

Given the seriousness and scale of the allegations, the case was transferred to the CID Economic Offences Wing, which is now leading the investigation. The latest raid is part of efforts to gather evidence and track financial transactions.

CID officials confirmed that search and verification operations are ongoing and further legal action will follow based on findings.
