SIT led by Bengaluru Joint Police Commissioner Vamsi Krishna takes over probe from Ashok Nagar police; financial pressure, IT raids and possible coercion to be examined.
The Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the suicide case of Confident Group Chairman CJ Roy, shifting the investigation from the Ashok Nagar police to a high-level special team.
Announcing the decision, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar said the SIT will be led by Bengaluru Joint Police Commissioner Vamsi Krishna, with Bengaluru South Division DCP Lokesh also part of the team. The move comes amid growing demands for a deeper and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Roy’s death.
Until now, the Ashok Nagar Police Station had been handling the death case. With the formation of the SIT, all key materials, including the FIR copy, case files, witness statements and collected evidence, will be formally handed over to the special team.

SIT chief Vamsi Krishna has already visited the spot where the incident occurred and conducted a preliminary inspection. The team will now take full charge of the probe and examine the case from multiple angles.
Investigators are expected to look closely into what circumstances led CJ Roy to take the extreme step. Key questions include whether he was under stress due to Income Tax department raids, whether financial pressure played a role, or if there was external pressure, coercion or blackmail from any quarter. Each of these possibilities will be examined in detail.
The SIT has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive, angle-by-angle investigation to establish the truth behind the high-profile death. Officials said the focus will be on ensuring transparency, accountability and clarity as the probe moves forward.
