Bengaluru marked the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotism as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah hoisted the national flag at the historic Manik Shah Parade Ground today. The event commenced at 9 a.m., with the CM saluting the tricolour before touring the parade in an open jeep and receiving a guard of honour.

Siddaramaiah highlights the state’s progress
In his address to the people of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah highlighted the state’s progress and reiterated the government’s commitment to development and social welfare. State cabinet ministers, legislators, senior officials, and several freedom fighters were in attendance.
The celebrations drew a crowd of nearly 8,000, with elaborate seating arrangements in place. The cultural segment saw spirited performances by schoolchildren and music from the Karnataka Police Band. A total of 1,150 participants from 35 contingents—including KSRP, CRPF, BSF and various government departments—took part in the parade. Students from BBMP and government schools also showcased vibrant displays.
Security was a top priority, with extensive measures ensuring the safety of dignitaries and the public. More than 100 CCTV cameras, baggage scanners, and bomb disposal squads were deployed. The Karnataka State Reserve Police, Civil Reserve Police, Rapid Action Force, and fire and ambulance units remained on standby. Senior police officers, along with PSI, ASI, and women constables, managed ground security, while dedicated traffic arrangements ensured smooth entry and parking.
The event concluded with the parade and cultural programs symbolising unity, patriotism, and Karnataka’s rich heritage.
