Divorce dispute turns fatal: Man shoots, wife dead in Bengaluru

A domestic dispute linked to an ongoing divorce case ended in murder near a hotel in Basaveshwaranagar, after which the accused surrendered to the police.

A shocking case of domestic violence has been reported from Bengaluru, where a man allegedly shot his wife dead following a heated argument linked to a marital dispute. The incident took place near the West Inn Hotel in Basaveshwaranagar.

The accused has been identified as Bala Murugan, while the deceased is Bhuvaneshwari. The couple, originally from Tamil Nadu, had been living separately and were involved in an ongoing divorce case due to prolonged family disputes.

On Tuesday evening around 6.30 pm, Bhuvaneshwari was returning after attending court proceedings related to the divorce when Bala Murugan confronted her near the hotel. An argument broke out between the two, which soon escalated. During the confrontation, Bala Murugan allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire on his wife.

Bhuvaneshwari was shot four times, with two bullets hitting her head and two striking her hand, causing fatal injuries. She collapsed at the spot and died due to excessive blood loss.
After committing the crime, Bala Murugan reportedly went directly to a police station and surrendered. He has since been taken into custody.

Bala Murugan is a software engineer by profession, while Bhuvaneshwari was employed as a bank staff member. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the case, including verifying whether the pistol used in the crime was legally licensed.

Further legal procedures are underway, and authorities are examining all angles related to the murder, including the background of the marital dispute and the source of the firearm.
