Special morning drive across Bengaluru leads to action against 26 school bus drivers found driving under the influence; licences recommended for cancellation.
In a major enforcement drive aimed at ensuring the safety of schoolchildren, Bengaluru traffic police conducted a special citywide operation targeting school vehicle drivers. The operation was carried out across the city between 7 am and 10 am, covering all traffic police station limits.
During the drive, traffic police teams inspected a total of 5,110 school buses and school vehicles. The checks focused primarily on detecting drunk driving and ensuring that school vehicle drivers were fit to transport children during peak morning hours.
Police officials said that 26 school bus drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol during the checks. Immediate action was taken against these drivers, as drunk driving by school vehicle operators poses a serious risk to the safety of students.

Cases have been registered against the offenders under the provisions of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act. In addition to filing cases, the traffic police have also submitted proposals to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) recommending cancellation of the driving licences of the drivers who were caught driving after consuming alcohol.
The special operation was conducted simultaneously across Bengaluru, with traffic personnel deployed in different areas under their respective police station jurisdictions. Officials said the drive was planned as a preventive measure to discourage violations and ensure strict compliance with safety norms for school transport vehicles.
