Residents of Varthur’s Ambedkar Colony raise serious civic concerns as garbage piles, overflowing drainage, and damaged roads make daily life unsafe and unhealthy.

Life has become extremely difficult for residents of Ambedkar Colony in Varthur, Bengaluru, as they continue to face severe civic neglect. Dust-filled roads, heaps of garbage near houses, and sewage water flowing openly on the streets have turned the locality into a daily struggle for survival.

Residents allege that garbage collection vehicles do not arrive regularly. Due to this, people are forced to dump waste along the roadside, leading to foul smells and unhygienic surroundings. Piles of garbage can be seen right in front of houses, worsening health and environmental conditions.

The situation is further aggravated by open drainage water flowing on the roads. Locals say breathing has become difficult due to dust and stench, while walking or commuting through the area has become unsafe. Residents claim that normal movement is almost impossible, making daily life unbearable.

Road infrastructure in the colony is in a pathetic state. Several stretches are dug up, with damaged slabs lying unevenly on the road. Locals fear serious injuries, stating that even a small slip could result in broken hands or legs. The absence of proper roads has made vehicular movement risky and pedestrian movement dangerous.

Residents say the problem has persisted for years. Despite repeated complaints to concerned authorities, no effective action has been taken so far. Frustration is growing as appeals have gone unanswered, leaving people to question whether elected representatives, including the MLA, would ever experience such living conditions themselves.

Calling their daily life a “living hell,” residents expressed anger and helplessness, stating that there has been no response despite multiple representations. With no other option left, locals of Varthur Ambedkar Colony gathered before NewsFirst to publicly express their anguish and demand immediate action.

The residents are now urging authorities to address garbage clearance, drainage repair, and road restoration without further delay, warning that the situation is affecting health, safety, and basic dignity of life.
