Ejipura flyover speeds up; GBA to acquire 7,000 sq m from key institutions. 2.38 km project, 454 segments assembled, land hurdles remain
Work on the Ejipura flyover along Bengaluru’s Inner Ring Road, connecting Kendriya Sadan to Ejipura, has accelerated as the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) moves to resolve pending land hurdles. Officials have announced plans to acquire nearly 7,000 square metres of land at four different points to ensure timely completion of the project.
Key institutions identified for acquisition include St John’s Medical College and Hospital, Kendriya Sadan, and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. GBA Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao recently reviewed the bottlenecks and directed officials to secure possession swiftly, even through legal measures if necessary. A joint inspection is scheduled within the St John’s campus, where land is required at two separate locations. Additionally, 230 square metres of private property has been earmarked for road widening and a pedestrian pathway linked to the flyover.
Engineers reported that the 2.38-kilometre-long flyover is being constructed using 762 precast segments. Of these, 584 have already been cast and 454 assembled on site, while 178 remain to be produced. The progress highlights that the project is in an advanced stage, though completion depends on resolving land acquisition challenges. Once finished, the flyover is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the busy corridor.
