Senior officers order inquiry after allegations of sexual harassment and misuse of social media surface in Whitefield division
A serious complaint has been lodged against a Sub-Inspector attached to Mahadevapura Police Station in Bengaluru, alleging harassment of women using a fake Instagram account. The accused officer has been identified as Hanumesh, currently serving as a Sub-Inspector at Mahadevapura police station.
According to the complaint submitted to senior police officials, the officer allegedly created a fake Instagram profile under the name “Praburajbabu” and used it to send inappropriate and disturbing messages to multiple women, including those residing in police quarters.

One of the complainants, the wife of a police constable, alleged that she was subjected to repeated sexual harassment through messages sent from this fake account. Disturbed by the continued harassment, the woman approached senior authorities and formally lodged a complaint, seeking strict action.
The matter has now been taken up by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Whitefield subdivision, who has initiated a detailed inquiry into the allegations. Officials are examining the digital evidence, message records, and account activity linked to the fake profile to verify the claims.
Further action will be decided based on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
