A tragic road accident in Bengaluru’s Adugodi area claimed the life of a woman on Monday, raising serious concerns over road safety, dangerous humps and poor traffic management.

The incident occurred around 11:15 am within the limits of the Adugodi Traffic Police Station, on Bannerghatta Road near Chinnayanapalya Road. The victim, identified as Amala, a resident of Anjaneya Palya, was travelling on a Honda Activa scooter bearing registration number KA-01-JG-0586 along with another rider.

According to police sources, an auto-rickshaw moving ahead suddenly applied brakes. As a result, the two-wheeler also braked abruptly, causing the riders to lose balance and fall onto the road. At that moment, a tipper lorry coming from behind, bearing registration number KA-50-A-7082, ran over Amala.

Police have registered a case at the Adugodi Traffic Police Station and launched an investigation into whether the accident was caused by road potholes, unsafe speed breakers or negligence by the tipper driver.

Following the incident, local residents staged strong protests, alleging that unscientific speed humps, damaged roads and poor civic planning directly led to the fatal crash.

Residents said elderly people and pedestrians find it extremely difficult to cross the road safely. They accused the civic authorities of ignoring repeated complaints and demanded immediate corrective action.
