Special drive launched against illegally installed colourful and flashing lights on vehicles, with police stopping riders, imposing fines and removing lights on the spot.

Vehicle riders using colourful and flashing lights for style and show have been put on alert, as police have launched a strict enforcement drive against illegal light installations on vehicles.

According to police officials, many two-wheelers and cars have been fitted with flash lights and multi-colour decorative lights without permission, in clear violation of traffic rules. These lights are not only illegal but are also creating serious problems for other road users, especially during night-time travel.

As part of the special drive, police teams are stopping vehicles on the road, inspecting them, and imposing fines on riders who have installed such lights. In several cases, officers are removing the flash lights on the spot, warning riders against reinstalling them.

Police say these bright and flashing lights cause disturbance and glare, making it difficult for other motorists to see the road clearly. This, they warn, is increasing the risk of road accidents, particularly at night when visibility is already reduced.

Officials pointed out that many riders are installing these lights purely for fashion and show-off purposes, without considering the safety impact on fellow road users. Complaints have been received that sudden flashes and colourful lighting distract drivers, leading to near-miss incidents and accidents.

The police have clearly stated that such modifications are not permitted under the Motor Vehicles Act, and strict action will continue against violators. Riders have been advised to remove illegal lights voluntarily and follow approved vehicle lighting norms.

With accidents and safety concerns on the rise, the police have made it clear that there will be no relaxation in enforcement. The ongoing drive signals a strong message: road safety comes first, and style-driven violations will not be tolerated.
