  • Paid parking starts on key Malleswaram roads
  • Hourly, daily and monthly parking fees announced
  • City-wide rollout planned across major zones

With tenders floated for pay-and-park facilities, several busy roads in Malleswaram will soon require motorists to pay parking charges, ending years of free roadside parking.

Traveling to Malleswaram in Bengaluru is set to become more expensive, with the introduction of paid parking on several key roads in the locality. Civic authorities have initiated steps to implement a pay-and-park system across high-traffic stretches, signaling a major change for residents and visitors who were earlier parking vehicles free of cost.

Paid parking has already been introduced on Malleswaram 18th Cross Road, one of the busiest commercial stretches in the area. In addition, similar parking systems are being rolled out on 15th Road and 11th Road. Preparations are also underway to introduce paid parking on Sampige Road, further expanding the coverage.

The move follows the decision by the western zone of the city civic body to float tenders for paid parking operations. Officials have identified Malleswaram 18th Cross as a priority due to heavy traffic movement and frequent roadside parking. Until now, vehicles were parked along roads without any parking fee, often leading to congestion.

Under the new system, motorists will be required to pay parking charges to leave their vehicles on designated roads. Two-wheelers will be charged ₹15 per hour, with a full-day parking fee of ₹75. For cars, the rate has been fixed at ₹30 per hour, while all-day parking will cost ₹150.

In addition to hourly and daily rates, authorities are also planning to introduce monthly parking passes. Two-wheeler users can opt for a monthly pass priced at ₹1,500, while car owners will have to pay ₹3,000 for a monthly pass.

The pay parking initiative is not limited to Malleswaram alone. Civic authorities are preparing to extend the system across the city. Tenders have been floated for pay-and-park facilities on 35 roads under the central civic zone, while similar preparations are underway in the western civic zone as well.

With the rollout, residents who were accustomed to free roadside parking will now have to keep extra money aside for parking charges.
