In view of Gandhi Jayanti, GBA has ordered a complete ban on animal slaughter and meat sales across Bengaluru on October 2, Thursday.

According to the directive released by the GBA Special Commissioner (Health & Education), all slaughterhouses will remain closed, and the sale of meat in retail outlets and markets will be prohibited on Thursday, October 2.
The civic body has emphasized that the decision is in line with long-standing practice to mark Gandhi Jayanti, honoring Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence and peace. This means that citizens will not be able to buy or sell meat on the day, and all meat shops across the Greater Bengaluru area will remain shut.
