Bengaluru’s civic body GBA and the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) launch a bold new plan, those throwing garbage on streets will find it right back at their doorstep, along with a hefty fine.
If you thought tossing garbage on the street was harmless, think again! The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) are about to flip the script on habitual litterbugs with a never-before-seen plan, throw trash, and get it back right at your door!

Starting October 30, marshals across the city will record videos of people throwing garbage in public. Once identified, the offenders’ homes will be located, and the same garbage will be dumped outside their houses. To make sure the message hits hard, these actions will be recorded and posted on social media.
Previously, fines ranged between ₹500 and ₹2,000. But under the new system, the penalty will rise to ₹2,000-₹10,000, depending on the amount of waste. GBA officials say this is being done to discourage repeat offenders who continue to dump waste despite several warnings.

The drive will cover all wards of Bengaluru. At least 10 repeat offenders in each area will be targeted in the first phase. The GBA plans to use public embarrassment as a deterrent, ensuring even the most careless citizens think twice before littering again.
