Following complaints of poor food quality in paying guest accommodations, Greater Bengaluru Authority officials conducted surprise inspections in Kadugodi, imposing strict penalties on violators.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has intensified scrutiny of paying guest (PG) accommodations across Bengaluru, warning operators of strict action for violations related to food quality, hygiene, and licensing norms.
Acting on rising complaints that PG residents were being served poor-quality food, GBA officials carried out sudden inspections at several facilities. One such inspection was conducted at an AL Co-Living PG located in White Rose Layout under the Kadugodi jurisdiction.

During the inspection, officials found that the PG was operating without renewing its mandatory trade licence. More importantly, serious lapses were observed in food quality and kitchen hygiene. Officials noted that cleanliness was not maintained in the PG’s dining and cooking areas, raising health and safety concerns for residents.
Due to these violations, the GBA imposed a penalty of ₹50,000 on the PG, citing non-compliance with hygiene standards and regulatory requirements. Authorities made it clear that there would be no leniency for PG operators who fail to follow the law.
GBA officials also issued a warning to PG residents, urging them to remain cautious and alert before consuming food provided by their accommodations. They stressed the importance of reporting unhygienic conditions and substandard food to authorities without delay.
