In a bold awareness move, GBA begins a unique campaign by dumping trash outside the homes of those caught littering public roads, aiming to curb Bengaluru’s roadside garbage menace.
In an innovative step to tackle public littering, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) launched a new awareness campaign on Thursday. The initiative involves dumping garbage outside the houses of individuals caught throwing waste on roadsides.

The campaign aims to instil civic responsibility among residents who continue to litter public spaces despite repeated warnings. GBA marshals have already captured videos of several offenders discarding waste illegally. Using this footage, civic officials identified the individuals and carried out the awareness activity at their doorsteps.
According to officials, each of the city’s 190 wards will target one such household per week, making it a citywide drive to promote accountability. The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has also imposed fines ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 on offenders before the garbage is cleared by GBA personnel.

This action particularly targets those who refuse to hand over garbage to collection autos and instead dump it along roads or drains.
