Civic officials sealed a paying guest accommodation in Shantinagar after inspection was denied and multiple violations, including lack of licence and an illegal kitchen, were found.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) on Friday sealed a paying guest accommodation in Shantinagar after serious violations were uncovered during an inspection drive. The action was taken against Garden PG for failing to maintain hygiene standards and operating without mandatory permissions.
The incident occurred when GBA officials arrived in Shantinagar to inspect several PG accommodations as part of a routine civic drive. During the inspection, the owners of Garden PG allegedly refused to allow officials to enter the premises and delayed access for nearly 20 minutes.
As the situation escalated, the PG management continued to deny entry to the officials, prompting the GBA team to seek assistance from local police. Police personnel were called to the spot, following which officials were able to enter the building and conduct a detailed inspection.

During the verification process, authorities found that Garden PG was being run without obtaining the required trade licence. Further checks revealed that an unauthorised kitchen was operating on the terrace, which is a clear violation of safety and civic norms.
Following these findings, GBA officials immediately sealed the PG and issued a formal warning notice to the management. The action was taken citing concerns related to cleanliness, lack of licence, and safety risks to residents.
The inspection drive was carried out under the leadership of Daljit Kumar, Development Deputy Commissioner of the Central City zone. As part of the drive, officials inspected multiple PG accommodations in the area, focusing on hygiene conditions, trade licences, and the implementation of safety measures.
