The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has intensified its fight against unauthorised constructions, ordering immediate sealing of buildings built without approved plans.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has stepped up its action against unauthorised building constructions across the city. In a strong move, the GBA has made it clear that violations will no longer be treated lightly, and entire buildings can now be sealed if construction is carried out without proper approval.
According to officials, the GBA Chief Commissioner has issued firm instructions to all civic authorities to take immediate action against buildings constructed without sanctioned plans. The order states that such structures must be sealed on the spot, and all construction activity must be stopped without delay.

Following these directions, commissioners of various city municipal corporations have swung into action. Special enforcement teams have been formed in their respective jurisdictions to identify and act against illegal constructions. These teams have been tasked with sealing unauthorised works at the earliest stage, even while construction is still underway.
Officials have clarified that sealing will now come first, followed by legal procedures. After a building is sealed, notices will be issued to the violators. Based on the response and nature of violations, authorities will then move forward with preparations for demolition, if required under the law.
The GBA’s objective is to prevent unauthorised buildings from coming up in the first place, rather than acting after they are fully constructed. By stopping work early, officials aim to reduce safety risks, infrastructure strain, and legal complications for the city.

Authorities have warned builders and property owners to strictly follow building norms and obtain proper map approvals before starting any construction. Any deviation, officials said, will invite strict disciplinary action without exceptions.
This renewed enforcement drive sends a clear message that unauthorised constructions will face immediate and decisive action across Bengaluru.
