After strong protests by farmers over land compensation for the Peripheral Ring Road project, the BDA has called a crucial meeting with landowners to address demands under the 2013 Land Acquisition Act.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has responded to mounting pressure from farmers protesting against land compensation policies linked to the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project. The protest, held on Tuesday in front of the BDA central office, forced the authority to initiate talks with affected landowners.
The PRR project is being developed as a business corridor aimed at easing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. However, farmers who have given up land for the road have strongly objected to the compensation being calculated under the old land acquisition Act. They are demanding compensation as per the 2013 Land Acquisition Act, which they say ensures fair and scientific valuation.

Farmers argue that compensation based on the older Act is unjust and does not reflect current land values. To press for a more transparent and scientific compensation model, they staged a protest earlier in the day, raising slogans and demanding immediate intervention.
Following the agitation, the BDA announced a conciliation meeting with landowners. The meeting has been scheduled for January 28 at 12 noon at the BDA office in Vasanthnagar, Bengaluru. BDA Chairman Harris will lead the discussions.

The BDA has appealed to all affected landowners to attend the meeting and place their concerns on record. The decision to hold talks was officially communicated through a press release issued by the BDA Deputy Commissioner.
Officials indicated that the meeting aims to resolve disputes related to compensation and find a mutually acceptable solution, ensuring progress of the PRR project while addressing farmers’ concerns.
