From Jan 15, Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro will run every 10 mins at peak hours, easing travel for 1 lakh daily riders
Bengaluru’s Yellow Line metro services are set to become more frequent from January 15, with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) introducing its seventh train on the corridor. The move will reduce peak‑hour intervals, offering commuters quicker connections along the busy RV Road–Bommasandra stretch.
According to BMRCL, trains from Monday to Saturday will now run every 10 minutes during peak hours, compared to the current 13‑minute gap. On Sundays, the headway will be trimmed from 15 minutes to 14 minutes. The timings of the first and last trains from the terminal stations — RV Road and Bommasandra — will remain unchanged.

The 19.15‑km Yellow Line, inaugurated on August 11 last year, links RV Road to Bommasandra and provides direct access to Electronics City, one of Bengaluru’s largest IT hubs. With six trains currently in operation, the line records an average weekday ridership of nearly one lakh passengers.
Adding to the expansion, the eighth train has already been dispatched by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL) from Kolkata on January 8. It is expected to reach the Hebbagodi depot shortly after Sankranthi. Following a mandatory 750‑km trial run, the train is likely to enter service by mid‑February, further reducing peak‑hour frequency to under 10 minutes.
The induction of new trains is expected to ease congestion and improve travel comfort for thousands of daily commuters.
