Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line will soon get its fifth train set, expected to cut waiting time from 19 minutes to 15 minutes starting October.
Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro commuters have a reason to cheer, the long wait for more frequent services is finally ending. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to introduce the fifth train set on the Yellow Line, which will significantly reduce waiting times during peak hours.
Currently, the Yellow Line operates with four trains, with a gap of 19 minutes between each service. The addition of the fifth train is expected to bring down this interval to just 15 minutes, easing congestion and improving the commuting experience for thousands of passengers.
The new train set, manufactured and shipped from Kolkata, is expected to arrive in Bengaluru by the last week of September or the first week of October. Following its arrival, the train will undergo mandatory testing and trial runs to ensure safety and performance.

Officials suggest that if everything goes as planned, commuters could see the fifth train operational as early as October. This marks a steady improvement in Yellow Line services, which began operations in August with just three trains running at 25-minute intervals. The fourth train was introduced on September 10, reducing the gap to 19 minutes.
The upcoming fifth train will make the Yellow Line more efficient, reducing passenger wait time and helping the Metro handle growing ridership along this crucial corridor.
