Arrival of the seventh trainset boosts capacity on Bengaluru’s Yellow Line, promising shorter waiting times and smoother travel between RV Road and Bommasandra.

Bengaluru’s Namma Metro commuters on the Yellow Line have received welcome news ahead of Christmas, with the seventh trainset successfully reaching the city. The newly arrived driverless train has been moved to the Hebbagodi depot, strengthening preparations for increased services on the corridor.

The seventh train had departed from Titagarh in Kolkata on December 10 and recently arrived at the Hebbagodi depot in Bengaluru. This comes close on the heels of the sixth trainset, which has already reached the city and is currently in the final stage of mandatory safety inspections.

According to officials, the induction of additional trainsets is expected to significantly improve service frequency. With the seventh train added to the fleet, the time gap between trains on the Yellow Line is set to reduce to around 8 to 10 minutes, easing crowding for daily commuters.

Sources indicate that commercial operations using the sixth train could begin on the Yellow Line by the last week of December, while the seventh train is likely to enter revenue service in January, subject to completion of all statutory approvals and safety clearances.
