Hitachi Rail GTS India has been awarded a ₹76 crore contract by BMRCL to supply the Automatic Fare Collection System for the upcoming Metro Phase 2A and 2B corridors, with completion set in 441 days.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has officially issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to Hitachi Rail GTS India Private Limited for a ₹76 crore contract to supply and install the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System for the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2A and 2B corridors.

BMRCL had invited bids for the AFC system earlier this year, receiving proposals from five companies. The technical bids were opened on May 28, 2025, followed by a detailed technical evaluation on September 22, 2025, where three firms were disqualified for not meeting specified criteria.

The financial bids of the remaining qualified firms were opened on September 24, 2025, and a final financial evaluation was conducted on November 7, 2025. During this process, one more bidder was disqualified, and Hitachi Rail GTS India emerged as the lowest and most competitive bidder.

On the same day, BMRCL issued the Letter of Acceptance, officially confirming the award. The AFC system, once operational, will cover the Phase 2A (Central Silk Board to KR Puram) and Phase 2B (KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport) corridors, enhancing the efficiency of metro operations and commuter convenience.
